I've lived in my new neighborhood now for a total of 30 days, and already I'm getting uppity about my territory. For the record, I live in Ridgewood, Queens, just over the border from Bushwick, Brooklyn, and a far cry from the hipster paradise that that neighborhood has become. Lest anyone continue to have the wrong idea about Ridgewood, however, let me just say now that the answer to the question posed in yesterday's NY Times City Room blog is an absolute, categorical NO.
NY Times: Is Ridgewood the New East Bushwick?
Uh-oh, this must mean that the hipster invasion of Ridgewood has begun. I always dreaded this day.
But seriously: it's a great neighborhood--I'm a native, now living elsewhere, and I miss it very much--and I hope you enjoy living there. More power to you for being proud of where you live, instead of pretending it's somewhere else.
